Mesh Support Devices – Quality Products by Schiller
Mesh support devices are used in nitric acid and caprolactam plants as components of process gas coolers.
Ammonia contained in the process gas is oxidized with oxygen on a catalyst mesh that is fixed to the mesh support device. The resulting NO gas reaches temperatures of 850 °C to 950 °C. At these temperatures, adherence to dimensional tolerances and the quality of welds are critical – especially when heat-resistant alloys are applied.

A catalyst basket in nitric acid production is a structure that holds ultra-fine platinum-rhodium wire meshes, which act as catalysts for the conversion of ammonia into nitric acid. The basket protects the sensitive catalyst meshes from mechanical damage and enables controlled installation and replacement inside the ammonia oxidation reactor.
